Gary Merlie lives in rural Findlay, Illinois. and has been flintknapping for 15 years.  His main interests is in making fluted paleo points and Cahokia arrow points. He uses the raw materials from the state and a few of the surrounding states to fashion his points from. Gary has visited many of the flint sources in the Midwest that were used by prehistoric Americans to make stone tools, and plans on sampling more of the wide variety of material from the region. Gary has a large collection of his work spanning the years that he has knapped and also have a collection of the work of other knappers. Other hobbies include bowhunting, and restoring classic Schwinn bicycles from the 50's.
